Building Societies

Alphabetical listing of building societies in the united kingdom.

Building societies are different to banks in that they are of mutual status - that is they are not owned by shareholders buy by everyone who has savings of some kind at the building society. The advantage of this arrangement is that they don't have shareholders to pay and hence, savings rates tend to be higher and borrowing rates tend to be lower in theory.
